From diapers and car seats to food and toiletries, we connect people with the items they need and the resources they deserve. Whether they are in crisis, facing adversity, or just have unexpected needs arise, we are here to assist with basic human necessities for families and individuals, at no cost to them. We are proud to provide in-person services in English and Spanish as well as phone interpretation for other languages.

We provide immediate assistance once per month with basic necessities, such as:

  • Toiletries

  • Children’s clothing

  • Formula

  • Car seats

  • Infant care items and equipment

We offer referral assistance for the following services:

  • Financial assistance with rent/mortgage or utilities

  • Employment assistance

  • Eyeglasses and eye exams

The Nest is proud to offer emergency financial assistance to qualifying families with children in the house under five years old. In partnership with Independence Bank, our Crisis Fund aims to respond to urgent situations as quickly as possible to prevent and alleviate emergencies like evictions and utility service disconnections. As part of the program, clients meet with staff to establish productive short-term goals to stabilize their situation and work toward future self-sufficiency. Our Injury Prevention Program, anchored by the Child Passenger Safety Program, has as its goal to further empower parents in their quest to keep their children safe as they grow and explore.  As part of this program we offer car seat checks, installations, and replacements depending on availability of resources. Each seat check is an educational opportunity for the parent or caregiver, as The Nest seeks to reduce car seat misuse and encourage safe practices for children and caregivers in cars. Our staff is fully trained and certified as Child Passenger Safety Technicians, and services are available by appointment. For more information or to ask about an appointment, please call (859) 259-1974 ext. 224.

Cary’s Cupboard

Our Family Assistance resource room is named in honor of Cary Hilliard, a beloved long-time volunteer of The Nest who passed away in 2018. We wanted to recognize his service, generosity, kindness, and compassion by dedicating this room to his memory.
